After an intense week of promotions plus a outreach workshop in Kingston, we’re happy to report that 10 of 14 Jamaican Tech Entrepreneurs who entered their Apps, have been selected to compete in the Global Venture Out Challenge Mobile Apps Competition and Programme staged by InfoDev/CRDF organisations.

The Jamaican Mobile Entrepreneurs will join others from Entrepreneurs from 33 countries from the Caribbean, Africa, Eastern Europe and Asia in the competition. ConnectiMass was selected to be the local event enabler for VentureOut Challenge.

The name of the Mobile APps are

1. Bliss HR- Bliss helps companies to improve the morale of their staff in minutes by making it simple and easy to
reward great staff.

2. Chat Patois – A patois word game

3. DunceBat – Fun Jamaican Word Game

4. Engraft – Social Networking

5. FiWiMarket – Business to Business (B2B) application that will facilitate trade among businesses (Exporters/Importers)

6. Grik.ly-A business networking app

7. Jamergency- the most reliable emergency app

8. Me-A-Go-mobile ticketing app

9. SweetSOA-Facilitates generic access to web services

10. Rezi-World’s First Smart Resume

VentureOut Challenge is an initiative to propel expansion-ready mobile entrepreneurs into international markets. The program will run from August to November 2013 and will help hundreds of entrepreneurs through hands-on training, virtual learning opportunities, mentorship, international exposure, and seed funding. Entrepreneurs will come from local technology community partners located in eight countries: Armenia, Jamaica, Kenya, Macedonia, Nigeria, Senegal, South Africa and Trinidad & Tobago.

What’s Next

On Tuesday September 17th, the top 24 mobile apps from around the world will be announced during the TechConnect Live Online Video Conference.

TechConnect Live is your network to connect with successful mobile developers and investors during the upcoming TechConnect VentureOut live broadcast about Internationalization of Mobile Apps, which will take place on Tuesday, September 17 from 11am-noon EST.

There will be a live online viewing with a Q&A where panelists will answer YOUR questions.   We have confirmed three speakers for the panel:

Top 12 Mobile App Go to Moldova for the final leg of the competition – The Dragon’s Den

After the Top 24 Mobile Apps Have been announced, then mentors located in the countries of the mobile entrepreneurs will be on hand to help them finesse their apps and pitches for them to resubmit if they wish by September 24th. After which, there will be another round of judging my an panel of international mobile experts and the Top 12 Mobile App Entrepreneurs will be announced. The top 12 entrepreneurs from the competition will meet in Moldova this October 30-November 1, 2013 for the Dragon’s Den, a pitching exposition to compete for US$10,000 in seed funding. Thanks to a great partnership with TechCrunch, one selected VentureOut entrepreneur will also be attending TechCrunch’s Disrupt Europe event in Berlin this October 26-29.
