I was asked to present at  the JTI/PSDP Success Story Event on Thursday, December 3rd at the Jamaica Conference Centre. IT was 2 workshops, 4 hours and estimated 100 attendees. It was personally, an awesome career fulfilling experience for me.

The Purpose of the Workshops

The PSDP-funded Enterprise Rating & Upgrading (ERU) Unit sought to have Internet Marketing presentations for Jamaican MSMEs (services and goods) that will further excite and educate them on capitalizing on their online presence. This is particularly important and relevant given that they are doing business in a global digital marketplace. The Private Sector Development Programme (PSDP) is managed by Jamaica Trade & Invest (JTI/JAMPRO). My General Observations

The attentive attendees believed that Internet Marketing is relevant to the marketing and bottom-line success of their business and was eager to know more. Some attendees had websites, some had been using one or two social media marketing tools as well. They asked specific questions regarding website development firms, costs and alternatives; using Facebook to do market research and to do free and near free marketing of their businesses. They were also interested in understanding general Internet trends as related to Jamaica, the Caribbean and the Caribbean Diaspora. They were made to understand too, that Internet Marketing and Social Media Marketing is approachable, relevant and doable by both individuals and companies no matter how small and must be approached with a clear strategy. They also wanted to engage in post presentation discussions and follow up.

My Conclusion

These workshops are a great avenue for educating and exciting Jamaican MSMEs entrepreneurs and professionals on Internet Marketing. I look forward to doing more in Jamaica and the Caribbean next year.
